The One and Only God

Good evening.

I have felt lacking as of late for not writing everyday. It has just been impossible for me to do so. I am happy to say that I spend time in the word every single day and Church is our Sunday activity along with our Wednesday night group. I did miss teaching Sunday school last week due to a schedule conflict but that is a rarity.

For those of you that have been reading for a while, you might have noticed that I am referring to “we” and “our” now. I have big and exciting news. I have spoken about trials that I have been going through and mentioned that they have come to an end. Thank God, I have been reunited with the woman I love and I have asked her to marry me. I am so happy to say that she has said yes. We both feel so blessed to be at this point. A point that just a few short months ago seemed like may never happen. We both know that we have been led by God and are being graced with his love and righteousness.

Exodus 20:3

“You shall have no other gods before me.

1 Corinthians 8:6

yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

Knowledge

There is one God. In Exodus, God teaches us that He is a jealous God and will not deal lightly with those who hate him. There are many places in the Word that re-enforces this teaching.

Exodus 20:4

“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

Understanding

God tells us to be careful and not to create our own idols. It can be easy to put others in front of God. The enemy has set a great trap for us and without even noticing, we can end up in it.

Wisdom

We were spending time in the word this evening and had a great discussion about our relationship with each other and God. We spoke how it is so easy to put our partner ahead of God. God is perfection. If we put our partner ahead of God, we are creating an idol (or false God) that is not perfect. We can only be disappointed in our partner when they stumble. We spoke of how that, once we are married, two flesh become one and we both bow our heads to God.

Summary

We all are never to forget that our God is the first in our lives. I feel that if we put God first, then all of the other people in our lives will fit perfectly. A perfect marriage includes three, Husband, Wife and God.

Proverbs 18:22

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord

God Bless.
